Panipat. The government came on the backfoot due to opposition from the players. In the Manohar Cabinet meeting on Friday, the government has made a big change in sports policy. Now, where the players will get the full cash award for each medal won in the year, every player will be given the full amount of the respective medal if they win the medal in the team event. In this way, senior players will be given 75 per cent and sub juniors 50 per cent of the amount of medals at the same level in which junior sports are awarded. The government has made a provision of cash award for youth and cadets in the new sports policy. The policy change will come into effect from April 1, 2017, i.e. the government has rejected many changes made in the policy by the then Principal Secretary Ashok Khemka in 2018.

Team event: As much as the cash award is decided for the medal in that game, every player of the winning team will get the same amount. Earlier this was the rule: if there are two players, they used to get 75-75 percent of the total prize money of the medal. If there were three or more, an amount equal to 50-50 per cent was given.
Amount of all medals: If any player wins two medals in a year, then the full cash award for each medal will be given. Earlier this was the rule: if someone wins two medals then the entire amount of a single medal was given. There was a provision to give 50 percent of the amount of the second medal.
Junior-Sub Junior amount increased: Junior and sub-junior players were awarded 75 percent of the cash amount of seniors and 50 percent of money for sub-junior players for winning medals in the same event as senior players. It has been decided for the World, Asian, Commonwealth and National Championships / Cups.
Earlier this was the rule: According to the policy, there was a provision to give 1/3 of the amount of senior's medals to the juniors and 1/6 to the sub juniors.
